Chris Wells is Creative Director and co-founder of Folk Labs
Co-founder and Creative Director of Folk Labs, Chris is a visual designer, brand manager and user experience advocate with over 15 years’ multi-disciplinary experience in communications and information design for print, information architecture and content strategy as well as digital and mobile interface design. His cross-sector career has seen him working with international development NGOs as in-house brand guardian, with central government as well as with agency-side marketing, public relations and publishing design.
His enthusiasm for creating engaging user experiences combines technical excellence and a user-centred creative approach. He is passionate about supporting local communities, non-profits, charities and the social enterprise sector with appropriate, high quality digital technology and genuinely excellent brand design.
For many years Chris worked for IPPF – a global sexual health NGO during which he contributed to the design and development of large-scale digital projects, researching and developing enterprise-level information architectures. This work on both internal extranets and public-facing sites for a global organisation with over 150 local affiliates offered an opportunity to gain deep insights into the challenges presented by federated charities and distributed networks, particularly to large-scale digital knowledge hub projects.
Additionally, working alongside monitoring and evaluation colleagues, he developed innovative approaches to annual reporting documentation using data visualisations and was also involved in developing many accreditation, quality assurance and auditing toolkits to support the organisation’s affiliates.
